The Kolling Institute hosted a special event to acknowledge NSLHD Board Chair Trevor Danos AM, who is stepping down after 10 years in the role.

Trevor has been a tireless advocate for the Kolling, championing research excellence across the Royal North Shore Hospital campus.

He provided leadership during an important period for the institute, delivering a much-needed strategic focus and strong governance framework.

Trevor helped to strengthen the invaluable partnership between NSLHD and the University of Sydney, advancing the joint venture model to maximise the shared vision of the two highly-respected partners.

Trevor ensured the Kolling would be an integral part of the world-class research precinct at Royal North Shore Hospital, laying the foundations for the Kolling to increase its impact at a local level, nationally and globally.

His enthusiasm and leadership have positioned the institute for growth, and helped to make the Kolling an attractive and dynamic place to work, and invest in.

Trevor will step away from his role at a time when the Kolling is globally competitive, and escalating its discovery and translational research program.

Many of our researchers are leaders in their fields, producing over 600 annual publications, and securing significant funding, international awards and global collaborations.

Academic Director Professor James Elliott thanked the NSLHD Board Chair for his leadership, foresight and valuable role in our success.

“Trevor guided us through a critical period with clarity of purpose, integrity, and strong strategic foresight, always balancing big-picture thinking with a grounded, pragmatic approach,” he said.

“Because of his leadership, the institute is not only stronger, but better positioned to deliver meaningful research impact locally, nationally, and globally for years to come.”
