investment in our research announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A large collection of research projects will get off the ground following generous funding through the Ramsay Research and Teaching Fund Scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme has directed more than $10 million to research on the Royal North Shore Hospital campus over the last 20 years, and this year a further $850,000 will be shared across 17 projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A diverse range of studies will be supported, strengthening investigations into cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes as well as osteoarthritis, neonatal care, thyroid function and physiotherapy programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful recipients this year are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Professor Dale Bailey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professor Roderick Clifton-Bligh<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professor Gemma Figtree<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professor David Hunter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Associate Professor Sarah Glastras<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Associate Professor Joanne Glinsky<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Associate Professor Karl Ng<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Associate Professor Sean Seeho<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Sally Baron-Hay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Grace Gifford<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Matti Gild<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Pierre Janin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Barbara Lucas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Sharon McCracken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Lauren Monds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Leo Pang<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Kathy Willowson\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NSLHD CE Adjunct Professor Anthony Schembri AM welcomed the investment saying it will help the district maintain its reputation as a hub of research excellence and high value care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe know that districts with an active research culture, where research is embedded as part of clinical care have a higher patient experience, less errors and better health outcomes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI look forward to following the progress of these projects, as well as their impact on lifting our standard of care and our understanding of a broad range of conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPersonally, as a fellow allied health worker, it\u2019s great to see our allied health practitioners being recognised with these important research grants.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipients were congratulated by North Shore Private, Ramsay Healthcare Acting CEO Christian Hoengaard, who said the grants represented a tremendous investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to all the good outcomes that will flow as a result of this research and I\u2019m sure it will help us continue to deliver world leading care,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have a long history of collaboration and I look forward to building on that partnership for another two
