{"id":2533,"date":"2025-06-24T09:06:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T23:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webdev.sydney.edu.au\/kolling\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2533"},"modified":"2026-03-12T10:48:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T23:48:25","slug":"podcast-offers-insight-into-the-future-of-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/kollinginstitute.org.au\/news_demo\/news\/podcast-offers-insight-into-the-future-of-healthcare\/","title":{"rendered":"Podcast offers insight into the future of healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;A fascinating and informative podcast has been launched showcasing groundbreaking research, innovative healthcare, and inspiring stories from across Northern Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tomorrow\u2019s Medicine Today<\/strong>&nbsp;is an initiative of the Northern Sydney Local Health District and the Kolling Institute, New South Wales\u2019 oldest medical research institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-hosted by the Kolling Institute\u2019s Academic Director Professor James Elliott and leading Royal North Shore Hospital anaesthetist Dr Matthew Doane, the series offers an insight into the impressive clinicians and researchers driving innovation and life-changing healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a behind the scenes look at the latest advances in healthcare, as well as some inspiring stories from clinicians, researchers and their broader teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Schembri, Chief Executive of the Northern Sydney Local Health District, said the podcast offers a great opportunity to highlight our strength in research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur teams are delivering truly outstanding work in healthcare and medical research,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis podcast is a fantastic platform to share that work with our community and direct the spotlight to the people behind the breakthroughs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-host Professor James Elliott said the series demonstrates the depth of talent and discovery in Northern Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEach year, Stanford University publishes a list of the top two per cent of researchers globally, and many of those names are my colleagues right here at the Kolling Institute and the local health district,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what inspired this podcast. It\u2019s a chance to share details of the world-class research and healthcare here in Northern Sydney with a wider audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The first episode is now available featuring Associate Professor Sarah Glastras on the future of diabetes care and prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/nslhd-tmt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Listen here:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New episodes will be released fortnightly.
