{"id":2520,"date":"2025-06-19T09:01:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T23:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webdev.sydney.edu.au\/kolling\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2520"},"modified":"2026-03-12T14:12:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T03:12:46","slug":"international-spotlight-on-talented-kolling-neuroscience-investigator","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/kollinginstitute.org.au\/news_demo\/news\/international-spotlight-on-talented-kolling-neuroscience-investigator\/","title":{"rendered":"International spotlight on talented Kolling neuroscience investigator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We would like to congratulate one of our emerging leaders at the Kolling Institute who has received a prestigious award at an international conference in Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her final year of her PhD, Caitlin Fenech has been presented with a President\u2019s Special Commendation award at the 36th World Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology, CINP-AsCNP 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caitlin has also taken to the stage today to deliver a presentation and informative poster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has welcomed the experience and her encouragement award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cReceiving recognition at an international conference is very exciting, especially as my PhD story is finishing up, and it has come out as an interesting story,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor the award application, I sent in my abstract and a 150-word statement of the reason why I wished to be considered for the encouragement award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn my statement, I described my passion for neuroscience and eagerness to meet other passionate individuals studying the brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy research is investigating the role of a group of neurons in the midbrain in chronic pain.
